  • Searching the Web for academic deconstructions of plot and character?

  • Looking for "fair and balanced" book reviews?

  • Your 11th grade English teacher thought it'd be hip to assign you a book written after 1945 and now it's time to write your "reaction paper" but you're not sure what to write because you've never had an original thought in your life so you're looking to steal one from someone else?

  • FUGHEDABOUDIT! At Booklyn, we're offering you our highly-opiniated, often polemic reviews of (usually) contemporary (better-be-sold-in) paperback (please, no more non-) fiction.
Booklyn is a bookclub that meets once a month. At each meeting we:
    1. start boozing
    2. discuss the assigned book
    3. find out what our next assigned book is
The Booklyn member who assigns the book is determined by an extremely complex formula involving a random number generator seeded by recent earning statements by mid-cap, offshore corporations. Whoever selects the book leads the discussion at the next meeting, by which time the aforementioned formula will have determnined the next selector, who will announce the most excellent selection at that meeting.
There are some very important rules that govern Booklyn.
    1. Book selections must be available in paperback.
    2. Books must be fiction, and contemporary is unspokenly encouraged.
    3. Alcohol must be readily available, and freely flowing at any and all times Booklyn is in session.
Booklyn has been known to willingly ignore the first two rules in the interest of...well, I'm not sure why. Tragically, we were once dupped into violating the third, most sacred rule. Let it be know that root beer does not, by any stretch of the imagination, fullfill the obligation.

We here at Booklyn think that it's important not just to read read read, but to also think crtically about what you've read. Once you've formulated your compelling analysis of that must-read book you just finished, we encourage you to share your thoughts...with someone who asked to hear them. We didn't.
